GTF strengthens skills and knowledge through working at national level with associations and other sector bodies using trusted facilitators.
GTF’s Association Academy is a bespoke programme adaptable to meet national circumstances and association requirements.
To build capacity and knowledge within the forest and wood-based trade associations to enable better representation and support for small and micro businesses on responsible trade issues and practices.
The insights from the Association Surveys for Knowledge (ASK) surveys together with the intelligence obtained at the regional Summits held in 2017 (Latin America) and 2018 (Africa), have been used to inform the design, content and delivery mechanism of GTF’s Training Academy. The training is not only focused on increasing skills, it also aims to provide a platform;
- To enable associations to discuss their practical challenges by ensuring the training and trainers provide a safe and trusted environment that encourages honesty and openness.
- To address the associations desire to have a network that offers on-going mutual support and mentoring through sharing of information and experience to encourage long term learning and outcomes.
There are three modules that are adapted to suit national and association requirements and are summarised as follows;
This focuses on internal association management. This module is designed to ensure an association can demonstrate that it is well-governed and accountable.
This module focuses on stakeholder engagement and communications. This will enable the association to conduct effective external affairs particularly with governments and NGOs.
This module focuses on services that associations provide to their members; building due diligence systems, providing guidance on national and international standards and policies as well as trade flow and market data.
